So far i have meet three different dermatologists, the first two fit the definition i wrote in my previous post. And the last one seemed to be helpful, since she took the time to explain that my problem will heal with time. She has met many patients in the past with similar problem and they had complete regrowth.

Thankfully i have seen some regrowth and all i need now is a little hope to cling on. As we all know there is always a big physiological effect with any medicines or advise we receive from doctors. There is nothing bad then one of them telling you that you have cancer, alopecia or aids and you will have it for the rest of your life.

They do study psychology at medical school and i am sure providing positive comments wont hurt them at all. So the two i have met, fell under the category of unprofessional useless doctors.

I have heard about Calosol from some friends who used it. Used. It didn't really work for them.
I was thinking of giving it a try so I researched from others who've tried it too and there's no single positive feedback about it.

this product was trialed by a pharma company for male pattern hair loss and other forms of loss and they admitted it did not work.

the company was in cambridge uk called phytopharm and the trial was called P45 for alopecia and as said they came to the conclusion it was of no help and so dropped it.
But the guy still selling it as calosol im not sure if i would try it as it is a bit pricey and is no cure.

All,

I came back to say big thank you to all of you who provided help and support during my difficult time. When i was suffering from Alopecia barbae and too desperate to find the right treatment, this forum helped me a lot!

During my suffering of alopecia barbae, i remember seeing many posts seeking help. However, they were all gone silent after a while and that made me worry even more. I was constantly questioning myself, what happened to these people, did they ever get well, did they do something bad to them self that's why they no longer write or WHAT?!! I promised that i would be different, i will let others know what happens to me. So here i am to say that my alopecia barbae is all clear.

Mine was stress related and took about 15 month from the beginning to the end, i saw many dermatologists and used numerous treatments, from creams to steroids. However, they were all hopeless and i gave up on all of them after a while. I had two very big patches around my chin and they were keep growing and reached my moustache. Since i have a thick beard and 3 hours after shaving all my beard is back, it was really hard to hide. There were days i was shaving twice but still very visible. The skin of affected areas looked like they were burnt, it affected me so badly that  i started taking anti-depressant medications. Thankfully, regrowth started 10 months into the problem. About 5 months later, my beard was all back.

I hope no one goes through what i experienced but i am sure there are some people out there suffering from the same problem. My only advise to you all, please have patient and everything goes back to normal if your problem is stress related. I know of two more peoples and nothing worked for them except waiting for at least a year.

One small advise, please take plenty of pictures of the affected areas on regular basis cos at some point regrowth starts slowly and if you do not have pictures, you may not be able to notice. And when you know of regrowth, you will feel happy and that would help the process. I took plenty of pictures during the 15 months and if anyone out there needs to see the development of my alopecia barbae i would be very happy to share them to provide you some comfort.

At last, i wish everyone the best of health. May all of us stay safe and happy.

CryHi there....

I am currently experiencing Alopecia Barbae, start with small patches and has spread under my chin and shows and its still spreading.  Its getting me more down and I feel that I am not stressed as such but quietly worried... Had a rough time with work - corporate bullying etc, left work to train in another profession, which is really really expensive.. so coupled with a challenging training and money woes....

I noticed this.... and recently I also developed a spot on my head..

Went to see a Dermo - who stated 8 weeks of Dermovate - nothing happened.  Prior to this the GP gave me Canestane, and anothe rmilder steroid...

All my test came negative... until the Dermo stated - there was nothing else and confirmed I was suffering AA.  She felt it was only matter of time and it will re grow....

I have noticed these patches since August 2011...

Its really re-assuring reading this that your's have regrown... but any words of wisdom would be great....:(
Regards, Flyboy

Hi Flyboy,

Sorry for the late reply, been busy with work!

I am sorry to hear about your problems, particularly the Alopecia one. You may have read my previous posts, i tried numerous treatment from GP to Dermatologist and none appeared to be helping. However, just at the beginning of the regrow i started using Minoxidil and felt it may have helped. It is worth giving it a try and i found this website doing a lot cheaper than the rest.

I used the "3 month supply Minoxidil 5% extra strength for men for £18.65" and i was able to finish only one bottle at the end. I would definitely give it a try if i were you.

I know some people who suffered from Alopecia Barbae and now they are all clear. Stay positive and i have faith you can beat it too.
