I'd be interested to know the different makers of vacuum wigs and their prices / how long each piece lasts for. I don't know too much about them and have only heard of freedom wigs, but if I lose too much hair for a topper to be workable eventually I might want to try one. Any info would be great - pms or here.

I have the same question, I wonder if it would be possible with comparison between the various types. Some sort of ...list or so with positive and negative comments from anybody who wants to contribute.
What we can read here about the various types, instructions and care , I understand is written by  Trendco...??

Let me know what you think folks!

Hi
my 13 year old granddaughter wear a Freedom Vacuum Wig- they have agents all over UK- it cost £1.560 for a 14" its hard to say how long they last, some people have theirs for years. Jessica lasts about l year to 15months it tends to go a bit thin on top and she has in the past had bits added in. I would say for an adult who would look after their wig better then she does about 2 years. She was lucky Trevor Sorbie cut and styled hers and did say it was a fabulous wig. It takes about 4/5 months to have them made.
The other company is Nu Hair the last time I was given a quote it was £2.800. I have met a girl who wears a Nu hair vacuum and is very happy with that one.

If you can PM your email address will let you have a photo of Jess in her vacuum wig.

Hi,

I wear a demalite wig but have also tried supplex and synthetic hair. With the dermalite I like the fact it is fitted to my head, I have been to Chessington WOA and it stayed put.  I wash it with shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair which really helps the colour stay put a bit longer and the base is quite thin and one of the more breathable available. I'm lucky enough to get them on the NHS for just over £230 but they retail at about £1600. Mine lasts 1.5-2 years.

Swede, and others,

my comments have nothing to do with Trendco, I have never bought anything from them! (for no reason other than I have found other suppliers first).

Vacuum wise, I have bought twice through freedom - cost about $3500 AUD which compares to what Shirley has said. Took about 3-4 months once the mould was made to make the wig. The hair is absolutely the best I have ever seen in any wig, but for me it is just too hot. But it is easy to put on and off, and often at the weekend if I need to shove something on to pop out quickly, I will use the freedom.

Hope this helps,

Claire M.

Hi
I never referred to the comments from members of this site, I referred to the main instructions and advice in this Alopecia web page/forum.Nothing else.
