I haven't been on any of these forums before because I've never felt the need for support, but I was compelled to join recently by a change in my alopecia.

I've had universal hair loss for almost 10 years now, starting at the age of 12. My alopecia started when I was 10 with a small spot that quickly disappeared followed by complete loss a couple of years later. Since then, I've never had any regrowth but in the last couple of months, at the age of 21, my eyebrows, from no where have started growing back.

I know it's only small, and it probably won't last forever, but I have been resigned to the fact I would never see hair on my body ever again.

To see this small bit of growth has given me a new lease of life, and I just wanted to share this story with everyone so that those that had given up hope could maybe just start dreaming of the possibility of regrowth once more.

Hi Tom, thank you for the post, I'm in the early stages of loss and just today I buzzed my remaining tufts!!! Shocked isn't the half of it, your post made me smile and gives hope. I understand how unpredictable this condition is but any good news from anyone is welcomed. Long may your growth continue.

Thanks a lot! Sorry to hear you're new to this, but I remember that shaving off as being a defining moment. All I can say is, stay positive, and enjoy that you're different to other people. Alopecia made me who I am today, and I think that's a better person than I would've been without it. The next few days will be full of questions, so make sure you've got some funny answers!

Ha yes your right, my first comment was from my young son, he said that I look like a boy with boobies!!!! Made me laugh, didn't really have any come back to that but that's what will play through my head when it gets to tough.

Haha I've certainly never heard it described like that before! Well I've been through the highs and the lows, so if you ever need some advice, I'll be around if you need it.

Cheers for that, you sound like a glass half full kinda person, that sits well with me. This is not just my journey but that of my family also, it's important that I teach my children how to deal with the difficult things in life with strength and dignity. However I know only having gone 6 months down this, I will need shoulders to lean on. Hope to catch up soon.
