Our latest support meeting which took place on 25th February was a lovely meeting, numbers were not high but this actually made it quite personal. We had a new member join us this time and everyone was extremely supportive - we all know how hard it is to attend a meeting for the first time.
It was a very emotional meeting as the new member has had a very hard time coping with Alopecia on her own. I know that we will all keep in touch and keep supporting each other.
We are planning on having our next meeting in the Summer so if you would like to join us please
contact me and we will add your details to our mailing list and contact you when we have a date.
I lost my hair over twenty years ago now and took over The Hair Clinic - looking after Alopecia and Chemotherapy patients - eight years ago.
I feel very privileged to be able to offer help, advice and support to hair loss sufferers/survivors!!
I have been through the distressing times you feel at having lost your hair. Why me? When will it grow back? Will it grow back? Why is it not growing back? Then - giving in - its never going to grow back. Then to..... "I'm ok, I dont need it to grow back - I am happy and able to cope without my hair and it actually looks pretty gorgeous!!!"
Having said that, I have to admit to the occasional - "I really would appreciate it growing back now please" day!
Alopecia is a very unfair position to be in and I feel so greatly for anyone who has to go through it. It affects so many things in your life - if you let it. It can take a while to come to terms with but it is possible to live with it and be happy.
Talking to others can help you to cope - please do come along to our next meeting - but if you are not ready for this - I know I wasn't ready for a few years - please feel welcome to email me on the above address if you need any support or advice.
Look after yourself and be strong!
