Research Study Explores Wig Usage and Psychosocial Distress

24th September 2015

Examining the relationship between wig usage and psychosocial distress

Researchers from the Department of Psychology at The University of Sheffield are looking for people with alopecia to complete their survey that examines the relationship between wig usage and psychosocial distress.

The results of this study will be combined with work that Alopecia UK is currently undertaking to explore NHS wig provision in the UK and will form part of a report to assist the charity in trying to appeal for fairer wig provision from the NHS across the country.

For the study to be a success, we need as many participants as possible to complete the survey.

It is open to anyone with alopecia aged 13 or over. Full details are provided in the introductory information sheet to the study and contact details of the lead researcher are provided should you have any queries.

The survey can be found here and should take approximately 20 minutes to complete.

This study has received ethical approval from the Department of Psychology ethics committee at the University of Sheffield, UK.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read through this information and thank you for your support with this survey.
