A team of ladies with alopecia will be appearing on BBC2 quiz 'Eggheads' to raise awareness and, if they're able to win, funds for Alopecia UK.
The team called 'A Clearer Head' was the idea of Alopecia UK ambassador Sue Hampton. She had the idea that a team of individuals, each prepared to show their alopecia on a national TV quiz, would be a great way to raise some awareness of alopecia in the mainstream media.
Getting a team together was not easy. Recruitment took place via Facebook over a few months with the final team being; Sue Hampton (Captain)
, Victoria Petkovic-Short
, Marie Jenks
, Jeanette Oliver
and Emma Skipper
. Equally as important was Sue Barker-Mewis
as reserve team member. Although not featured on the final TV programme, the team could not have headed to Glasgow for filming without her as the BBC insist on a team of 6 including one reserve. Sue doesn't have alopecia herself but agreed to take part as her daughter, Molly, has the condition.
A couple of the team members had met before but most met for the first time the night before filming took place. Not much time to agree a game-plan!
The episode featuring the Alopecia UK 'A Clearer Head' team against the brainiac team of Eggheads is due to be aired at 6pm on Thursday 17th March.
Prior to taking part the team agreed that if they were able to beat the Eggheads and win a cash prize, it would be donated to Alopecia UK.
Some prize funds would be amazing but win or lose it will be fabulous to see these lovely ladies appear on our TV screens!
We hope you can tune in!
