A team of ladies with alopecia will be going up against BBC2's quiz brains, the Eggheads, on Thursday 17th March at 6pm.
Meet one of the team members of 'A Clearer Head', Birmingham support group leader, Marie Jenks.
"I have had alopecia since 1999 and initially focussed on getting treatments and hiding my hair loss.
With the help of Alopecia UK, my confidence slowly grew, culminating in my appointment as leader of the Birmingham support group early last year.
I felt the only thing still holding me back was my wig. I didn't feel comfortable in it but it took me a long time to have the confidence to go without it. I made the decision to stop wearing my wig and 'came out' with my alopecia on my 40th birthday. The reaction from everyone was incredibly positive. I am now proud to be promoting awareness of alopecia and actually feel good about it. It was taken me a long time to get to a good place, but I am now happy with me!"
Thank you to Marie for being part of the 'A Clearer Head' team! Marie's opponent in her individual round was the 'love him or hate him' Marmite-character that is CJ! We look forward to watching! Tune in on Thursday 17th March, 6pm, to see if Marie managed to put CJ in his place!
