Last month a team of 12 runners took on the challenge of running the British 10k London Run to raise awareness and funds for Alopecia UK.
And we're totally blown away by the fundraising efforts of Alex, Ali, Amy, Dean, Jade, Joelle, Juliette, Katie, Leanne, Mike, Steph and Susan who raised a combined total of £9,157.03 - a truly phenomenal amount of cash for our small charity.
It just goes to show what can happen when people work together as a team. But it's not only about the funds raised.
Of taking part Juliette says:
"I cannot thank Alopecia UK enough for giving me the opportunity to run in the London 10K. It came at a time when I was at my lowest ebb, having just lost all my hair in a very short space of time. Training for the run gave me a sense of purpose and the opportunity to retain a sense of control. I felt that I could channel my feelings of anger and hurt into something positive and was determined to succeed and raise money for Alopecia UK".
Alopecia UK's Fundraising Manager, Amy Johnson, says:
"We know from speaking to others that fundraising for Alopecia UK can help people to feel more positively about their hair loss and what can ultimately feel like a very difficult situation to be in. Hearing feedback like Juliette's is just as valuable as any funds raised, although obviously a huge sum like this will make a big difference to Alopecia UK. We're extremely grateful to all our 10k runners and everyone who fundraises for us throughout the year. We wouldn't be able to continue our work without our fundraisers."
A HUGE thank you to all our British 10k runners and everyone who donated to their fundraising pages.
