At Alopecia UK we are grateful to all our fundraisers. Every now and again we hear a fundraising story that really tugs on our heartstrings. 7 year old Johnny Tutton's fundraising story is one such tale....
Alopecia UK ambassador Sue Hampton visited Johnny's school recently as one of his classmates, Joseph Biggs, has alopecia.
Johnny's Mum Lucy explains Johnny's fundraising efforts and the inspiration behind them:
"My son Johnny recently asked if he could sell all his toys as he really wants a Segway.
A week later Sue Hampton visited his school and she totally inspired him. He asked me again is he could sell his toys but he said he would like to donate half of whatever he raised to Alopecia UK. Obviously I was very proud of him and we got busy with leaflets and posters (he handed them out at school and posted them through doors in the local area).
On Thursday 28th July, Johnny held his sale and although he only sold £62 worth of his toys, our local community were so inspired by Johnny's kindness they helped him to raise a further £334.00, bringing the grand total for Alopecia UK to £365.00.
Johnny decided a Segway was too expensive so spent his earnings on new football socks and shorts!"
Everyone at Alopecia UK is blown away by Johnny's kindness and it just goes to show what an inspiration our ambassador Sue Hampton is too!
