A team of 20 'Apatchy Warriors' took on Total Warrior’s gruelling 10k obstacle course, facing mud, ice, fire, heights and electric shocks, to mark International Alopecia Day 2016 and raise awareness of alopecia. Some of the team are still recovering but there is already talk of doing it again next year! Are you up for the challenge?! If so the date for your diary is 5th August 2017.
We don't have pictures of every obstacle but this album gives you a flavour of the whole weekend. We camped Friday and Saturday night and a few of us also tagged on a little trip to the Spa on the Sunday for some pampering!
The team included new Alopecia UK Trustee Carlo Napolitano, former Rugby League head coach in the 2013 World Cup. He also brought along his partner, Keira, and friends, including Rugby Legend Adrian Morley and Former Bradford Bulls player, Nathan McAvoy. Joining them was Alopecia UK staff member, Jen as well as Alopecia UK volunteers Kayleigh, Hannah, Rachel, Amy and Lucy. We also had Alopecia UK members Tamsin and Susan, along with Sydney’s parents Dave and Sarah. Additional to this were some friends of team members - Pete, Sarah, Kevin, Steve, Neil and Kate.
It was tough but a lot of fun! We had a fantastic team and completed the course together as a group, with everyone helping and encouraging each other. It really was a team effort. We don't think some of team would have been able to complete the course without the help of some of the…erm…more muscly team members!
A huge thank you to our Platinum Sponsor Swift Debt Help, our Silver Sponsor C Owens Builders & Contractors Limited, ASICS for providing the shorts and t-shirts, and SEVEN BRO7HERS BREWERY for the beers!
And finally a big thank you to the whole team. Firstly, for agreeing to take part and travelling to Cumbria from all over the UK to get there. And secondly for also tagging on a bit of fundraising! In total the team have raised over £4600 for Alopecia UK. If you would like to sponsor any of the team you can find their Justgiving pages here.
