What's All the Buzz About? with Dr. Angela Christiano

15th December 2010

Recently the research findings of Dr. Angela Christiano of Columbia University were released, indicating that the genes responsible for alopecia areata have been discovered, and closely match those associated with other autoimmune diseases, particularly rheumatoid arthritis and type 1 diabetes.

Not only does this research allow us to begin studying drugs that are already indicated for other autoimmune diseases with similar genetic makeup, but the media coverage that continues to occur because of these findings will help increase the awareness of alopecia areata, streaming from the internet and newspapers to your cities and neighborhoods.
