Simon Ray is a man with a BIG challenge ahead. Over the next few days he will be attempting to swim the English Channel for four chosen charities, one of them Alopecia UK.
If all goes according to plan, he estimates he will set off from UK shores on either Tuesday 30th July or Wednesday 31st July.
If you would like to track Simon's swim there are two options:
Simply click on Anastasia, which will be Simon's boat and then click on 'latest track' and you can see a live GPS trail of where he is and where he has been.
This is Simon's boat pilot's website with tracker and web cams!
We asked Simon why he had chosen Alopecia UK as one of his four charities and this was his response:
"The answer to your question is fairly simple....my beautiful wife Anne. Anne noticed a few bald patches around March last year but her hair did not really start to fall out properly until we were just 3 weeks away from a holiday of a lifetime (6 weeks in Australia that we had been planning for 4 years!). I saw firsthand the absolute distress and grief that the loss of your hair can have. We did manage to get away to Australia (it was touch and go!) and Anne left the UK with most of her hair and came back with none.
I am pleased to report that Anne now really feels good about the world and we have learned to love with her new look. To be honest, I have really grown to love it!"
