Musician Phil Stocks is organising a local music festival to raise funds and awareness for Alopecia UK. We caught up with him in the lead up to the event which takes place on Easter Saturday.
Tell us a bit about your event….
We are planning a local music Festival to support Alopecia UK. The festival is going to take place on Saturday 4th April at Waves bar in Cleethorpes, featuring the best talent from the area. Volunteers and family are getting involved and supporting the cause by donating their time to the day in planning children's games and raffles to keep the young ones entertained, so I can concentrate on bringing in the artists and the local media.
How will the event raise money for Alopecia UK?
Entry to the event will be £2 per person with all profits going to Alopecia UK. We will also have some collection buckets on the day too!
What made you decide to raise funds for Alopecia UK?
I decided to support Alopecia UK, along with my company Avenue 44 Music, as I have been affected by Alopecia since early November 2014. Being a musician, much of my confidence was in how I looked on stage. As my hair loss became harder to hide, it occurred to me how testing it must be for people who have endured this their entire lives or lost all of their hair due to the condition.
Until it had happened to me it was something I had heard of but never really knew anything about. The aim is to bring awareness that it really can happen to anyone, and most importantly that if it does you should not hide away and be proud of who you are.
The event starts at 1pm on Saturday 4th April at Waves bar Cleethorpes, with live music all the way through to midnight. If you can get along, please do!
