September is Alopecia Awareness Month - Get Involved!!

24th August 2015

September is Alopecia Awareness Month!

Although we believe alopecia awareness is something that should be practiced all year round, it is great to have a month dedicated to spreading the word about alopecia. And we have plenty of ways for you to get involved this September.......

Fun Hat Fridays - have fun and make a small donation!

On each of the Fridays in September, we are encouraging people to participate in 'Fun Hat Fridays'. We're asking for people to share photos of themselves with some fun headwear! Super sombreros? Colourful caps? Fantastic Fedoras? Anything goes! Posting the photos on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram will help to spread the word about alopecia and if you post the photos to the Alopecia UK social media accounts, we will share from there.

Alopecia doesn't stop me..... - social media campaign

A simple and empowering photo campaign for people with alopecia of all ages to get involved with. Simply print off this template and tell the world something that alopecia doesn't stop you doing. It can be absolutely ANYTHING! The idea is to show the world that just because we have alopecia, it doesn't stop us from doing regular things or perhaps being brilliant at something!

Join us in Manchester!

Our 'Big Weekend' just happens to fall during Alopecia Awareness Month. We will be in Manchester on Saturday 12th September and Sunday 13th September. Our 'Information Day' is on the Saturday with lots of great speakers, workshops and exhibitors lined up - it's definitely one not to miss! On the Saturday evening there is the option of joining us for a bite to eat and the chance to meet new friends and maybe have a boogie! And on Sunday you can purchase a ticket to join us on the cobbles of Coronation Street!! Full details of how to buy your tickets can be found here.

Make a purchase from our eBay store!

We have plenty of items available in our eBay store that can help you to raise awareness. Our blue Alopecia UK t-shirts, charity wristbands and awareness pin badges are all simple yet effective ways to spread the word. And an easy way to get family and friends involved too! Visit our eBay store here.

Do your own thing!

If some of our suggestions don't 'float your boat', September is a great time to host your own awareness and fundraising activities. We have LOTS of suggestions in our 'Fundraising A-Z' of activities you could get involved in. And we are keen to support you! We'll happily support those wishing to raise awareness and funds for Alopecia UK. We have downloadable Alopecia Awareness Month posters which you can print:

Poster 1 - Blue Background

Poster 2 - White Background

Or if you don't have access to a printer, we can pop an Alopecia Awareness Month poster in the post to you. We also have charity leaflets and other bits we might be able to send to you. Please email amy@alopeciaonline.org.uk if you need anything and we'll try our best to help support your efforts!

We really hope many of you will get involved this year to make 2015's Alopecia Awareness Month the best yet!
