Charlotte's 'Big Chop' Challenge!

9th March 2016

We love it when children and teenagers get involved in fundraising for Alopecia UK. It reminds us of how generous and considerate the younger generation can be!

10 year old Charlotte Saxelby is a perfect example. She is getting her hair cut and has asked family and friends to sponsor her to raise money for Alopecia UK.

Not only will Alopecia UK benefit from the money raised, but Charlotte will also be donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust (a charity which provides real hair wigs to children affected by medical hair loss).

We asked Charlotte to tell us in her own words what she was doing and why......

"I am planning to get my haircut on Thursday 17th March. As well as being sponsored to raise money for Alopecia UK, I will be donating my hair to the Little Princess Trust who support children with hair loss including Alopecia by providing real hair wigs. I will get approx 7 inches cut off, which is the amount needed to make a hair donation.

I am doing this to support my best friend Lucy. She got Alopecia when she was just 6 years old.  Two years ago she came to my school and we became best friends. I wanted to do this to show my support for her.

I am feeling a little bit nervous about my haircut!

I am amazed at how much I have raised so far, and with offline donations have already raised over 1000! Everyone has been so generous and supportive and I'm very grateful."

We are extremely grateful to Charlotte for her fundraising efforts and send our best wishes to both Charlotte and Lucy!
